WW 2026/15 - Wilton, 13/09/26
This is our third visit to Wilton, a pleasant parkland course nestled at the base of the Eston Hills to the south of Middlesborough. Our last visit here was back in 2018 when the local members warned us before going out that the greens were in poor condition. Thankfully over the past 8 years they have improved, though still patchy in some places. On the whole the course layout was very nice and the weather was almost perfect being sunny, warm and calm with on rain. Due to summer holidays and other factors we had a lower than average turnout of just 14 players but those who attended seemed to enjoy the visit.
In the clubhouse before hitting the course we discussed next weekend's Finals Day at Houghton, especially the catering arrangements. Following a vote of the members we decided to just play the match then have the prize presentations but not have a post match meal. To ensure you get value for money from your Society subs we will subsidise your Xmas dinner early next year. Further details will be released later.
Right now for the top three following card scrutiny -
In third place (on countback) with 34pts was Alan Welsh.
In second place, also with 34pts came Andy Trewick.
And the winner with a total of 38pts (45 with win bonus) was Ian Lawson.
The Longest Drive category was won by Paul Baker. The Nearest the Pin category was won by Andy Dodd with 2.0m. One"Two'" was carded at Wilton by Alan Welsh. Finally a total of 49 nett birdies were carded.
Last but not least the final of the Tim Aberdeen knockout competition was played at Wilton between Andy Dodd and Rico Liverani. Following a hard fought match with barely two points in it all game Andy came out on top winning by 3&1. Congratulations Andy & Commiserations go to Rico.
